We have already planned our fantastic Trip Around The World
"Unpack the Knowledge" 2010 summer camp. It is a wonderful
mix of indoor and outdoor physical activity, educational fun, and
community involvement! This cultural experience will take your child on
a virtual world cruise, that will have them visiting a different "port"
each week.
The Children will enjoy a cultural
experience that will give them something different to look forward to
every day. We will separate the 5-7 year olds in one room, and the
older children (8-10 year olds) in another. This will allow the
children to enjoy our great schedule, while socializing within an age
appropriate program. All lunch and snack food is included!
A specialty within the program is our Language
Arts and Math Readiness review on Tuesday and Thursday Morning. We
feel 3 months is a long time to be away from the academic setting, so
we provide a curriculum which is age appropriate to each group.
L.E.C.C. allows the children the enjoyment of outdoor summer
excitement, while still providing an air-conditioned learning
environment.
On Monday, the children will start their week with an assortment
of fun activities. This includes visits to the Libertyville Sports
Complex and Twisted Cow. On site moon walks and weekly sign language classes
and fishing seminars will give the children something to look forward
to.
Each Tuesday will begin with Language Arts
class, followed by a cultural visitor from our country of the week.
The children will enjoy a visit from a verity of entertainment relating
to our weekly theme. Visitors will consist of an assortment of
guests that will bring everything from, dance / movement, costumes,
wildlife, and experiences from around the world.
Wednesday will be action packed as the
children will leave L.E.C.C. in the early morning for a field trip on a
school bus. We have trips planned to The Rinkside for Ice Skating and
Laser Tag, a full morning of fun at
a Waterpark, cultural food experiences from local
restaurants, and our annual trip to the Sea Dog at Navy Pier
(to name a few). Each field trip will conclude with a picnic lunch on
site and an ice cream treat..
In the afternoon, the children will then
enjoy swimming lessons at the YMCA. This is not public free swim. We
rent the entire indoor pool along with 5 swim instructors and a
lifeguard. Our staff is in the water for a 5-1 ratio. Not to worry, as
children will be divided into groups based on ability.
Thursday, the fun continues with Math
Readiness class, followed by a trip to the library for our "Readers are
Leaders" program. The children continue on a community service project
to a local food pantry, mission or nursing facility. After lunch, the
children will visit a local water park for outdoor water fun.
Friday, the week concludes with a morning
craft class, a chance for children to taste test food from around the
world and time to make purchases with "camp bucks" at our "cruise ship"
gift shop.
