We have already planned our fantastic Summer Day Camp 2008, and it is a wonderful mix of indoor and outdoor physical activity, educational fun, and community involvement!
The Children will enjoy a theme-related program that will give them something different to look forward to every day. We will separate the 5-7 year olds in one room, and the older children (8-10 year olds) in another. This will allow the children to enjoy our great schedule, while socializing within an age appropriate program. All lunch and snack food is included!
A specialty within the program is our Language Arts and Math Readiness training on Tuesday and Thursday Morning. We feel 3 months is a long time to be away from the academic setting, so we provide a curriculum which is age appropriate to each group. L.E.C.C. allows the children the enjoyment of outdoor summer excitement, while still providing an air-conditioned learning environment.
Our theme related week would involves a local field trip each Monday. Trips will include Taco Bell to make pizza, Bob's Hobby Shop and The Countryside Bakery to make cookies.
Each Tuesday will begin with Language Arts and Math Readiness Class, followed by a special guest speaker. The children will enjoy a visit from Dave Dinaso's Travel World of Reptiles, The Condell Medical Center will visit for a "Teddybear Health Faire," a Magician, and The Field Museum Soil Adventure Truck, to name a few. We also have some special surprises planned, such as our "Spacewalk" and "Pony Rides" for the day.
Wednesday will be action packed as the children will leave L.E.C.C. in the early morning for a field trip on a school bus. We have trips planned to The Rinkside for Ice Skating and Laser Tag at the new facility at Gurnee Mills, a full morning of fun at a Waterpark, a Play at the Bowen Park Theater, and a trip to the brand new Lake County Children's Museum! Each field trip will conclude with a picnic lunch on site. Seven of the summer field trips are different from last year!
In the afternoon, the children will then enjoy swimming lessons at the YMCA. This is not public free swim. We rent the entire indoor pool along with 5 swim instructors and a lifeguard. Our staff is in the water for a 5-1 ratio. Not to worry, as children will be divided into groups based on ability.
Thursday the fun continues with morning Language Arts and Math Readiness, followed by Karate instruction by a certified black belt at Side Kicks Martial Arts studio in the afternoon.
Friday the week concludes with a morning craft class, and trip to Jungle Gyms for children's gymnastics and exercise, followed by a trip to Taco Bell for lunch.
